“It’s
like another world up here.” That’s exactly what Gary Oxley and
five other builders have created with the
Havasu Foothills Estates.
Only a few minutes from downtown Lake Havasu City, the Havasu
Foothills Estates is a 640 acre high end residential development
with over 100 acres of open space. Pocket parks are spread
though out, with a town center, school, fitness center, outdoor
amphitheatre and hiking trails planned for the future. “What
we’re trying to build is a community, rather than a housing
tract.”
It seems
hardly fair to call Gary Oxley a “builder”. Working with
architects, engineers, interior designers, artists and a host of
contractors, Gary is actually able to “visualize and create” the
home. His exquisitely designed Spanish Mediterranean styled
homes are beautiful works of architecture and design, reflecting
his artistic heritage and over 30 years of experience as a
builder.
Yet
artistic abilities and building experience were not the only
elements needed—financing, city planning and tremendous project
coordination had to occur. Explains Gary, “As we were putting
the numbers together, we were looking for construction financing
to help us get the thing off the ground.
Mohave State Bank
stepped up in a big way and really helped make it happen”. When
the MSB loan team got involved, it wasn’t about just providing a
construction loan. It was about relationship. Loan officers
worked closely with Gary, architects, the City of Lake Havasu,
engineers, the title company and many others to “deliver” the
project. Says one of MSB’s loan officer’s “The key was not to
just provide a loan or paperwork. There are relationships to
build, due diligence to execute, reviewing the paperwork for
accuracy, monitoring the project, and working with the builder
to make necessary adjustments to enable us to complete a project
both the builder and MSB can be proud of.” In addition, MSB
worked on coordinating efforts with the title company and the
City. Says one MSB loan officer, “The title company and the City
were very comfortable with working with Mohave State Bank’s
because of our expertise and experience in construction lending.
They knew that they were working with a qualified construction
loan team who was accountable to getting the project completed.”
Today,
almost half of Gary’s projects are sold, with over 36 homes
under construction or completed. When asked why MSB? Says Gary
“They deliver service, quality with a smile. I think that MSB is
a community bank and that they represent that. People that you
know and trust. The services are by far superior to other
lending institutions that we’ve dealt with in the past. It was
very important to us that who we were going to use would be a
local bank, and that we kept our investment here in the local
community.” As Gary says, “We wanted to build a community”…and
MSB helped to bring the vision of community to reality.
